Lowdham Cocker Beck Flood Storage Reservoir

We're in the midst of constructing a £30 million Flood Storage Reservoir (FSR) to protect 191 properties and businesses from repeatedly devastating flood in the village of Lowdham in Nottinghamshire. The reservoir will protect the community from a 1 in 100 year flood event (1% Annual Exceedance Probability).

Here at the Environment Agency, we are engaging with those affected by the flooding and with the wider community to provide a timeline of the project and other useful resources. Register and subscribe to receive notifications when we share updates.

Please see our Partners and Contacts widget for further information on local action, surface water, planning and more. Click 'more' under contacts to see the full list.

Join Ben, a member of our project team, as he gives a virtual tour of the site (December 2024).

191 Properties better protected once the scheme is constructed. £49 million in whole life benefits afforded by the scheme. 1% AEP (Annual Exceedance probability) is the standard of protection the scheme will provide. 100,000 metres cubed of storage capacity once the reservoir is complete. Over 800m in length of embankments to be constructed using site-won material. 0 tonnes of earth to be removed from the site.

There are three levels of flood warnings you can sign up for. Flood alert: Flooding is possible, be prepared. Low-lying land and roads may be affected. Flood warning: Flood is expected, take action. Property flooding is likely. Severe flood warning: danger to life, prepare to evacuate. Follow the instructions of emergency services. (External link)
