Where is the site compound?
The scheme’s site compound will be set up on the playing fields at Doorstep Green, just off Mill Lane.
What will happen to the playing fields and play park during construction?
During construction, while the site compound is in use, the play park and recreation ground will be temporarily closed. We recognise this is not ideal and sincerely apologise for the temporary closure of this area, and we thank you for your understanding. Once the works are complete, both will be reinstated and improved.
How long and how much of the Children’s play area will be taken up as storage facility for your equipment?
Our contractor, BAM Nuttall, will need to use most of the grassed recreation area next to KasKane, including the children’s play park, as a site compound for around 12 months during construction. We explored several other locations for the compound, including Skinningrove Steelworks, but none were deemed to be suitable. We recognise that the temporary closure of the play park is particularly disappointing and apologise for the inconvenience caused. Once the work is complete, the play park will be restored with improved equipment.
