Where will the new bridge be constructed?
The new bridge will be constructed between New Company Row and Zetland Row, above the height of the flood walls at the Riverside Building car park.
What is the reason for the new bridge and what are the benefits?
The removal of Stone Row bridge and construction of a new, wider bridge has the benefit of providing permanent 24-hour vehicular access to residents, emergency services and delivery vehicles. In addition to the reduced flood risk to the village associated with the operation of the flood gates.
What will happen to Stone Row Bridge and the associated flood gates?
We propose to remove the flood gates, bridge and parapets at Stone Row and close the gap in the flood wall. The new bridge will provide an alternative route for traffic.
I live on Grove Hill or Zetland Row, how will access to my property be impacted during the construction phase?
Due to the removal of Stone Row bridge, we will look to temporarily divert foot and vehicular traffic through an opening at the top of Grove Hill and into Magpie Wood Glamping site and out past KasKane Cafe. This allows residents to remain connected to the village centre and access Mill Lane.
Where is the site compound?
The site compound for the scheme will be located on the playing fields at Doorstep Green off Mill Lane
What will happen to the playing fields and play park during construction?
During the period of construction, as the compound site is active, the play park and playing fields will be out of use. After construction is complete, we will be reinstating a better play park and playing fields.
Which roads will construction traffic use during the scheme?
Construction traffic will use Mill Lane, New Company Row, Grove Hill and Zetland Row, alongside a temporary access track through Magpie Wood Glamping Site.
