Ground investigations - week commencing 1 June

This week we’ll be carrying out beach investigations near:
  • Martello Tower 64 at Sovereign Harbour. Once this section is complete the team will continue moving east over the coming weeks and months.
  • The temporary compound at Sovereign West car park.
  • The area between the Wish Tower and Eastbourne Bandstand. Over about 10 days the team will move shingle to create safe access to the beach, then carry out the investigations.

Parking update: A small number of spaces in the Wish Tower car park will be temporarily closed for a few hours on the morning of Wednesday 3 June to allow safe beach access. This short term closure will happen again once work in this area is complete and the team moves to the next site.

  • The seafront and beach remain open
  • Team on site Monday–Friday, 7:30am–5:30pm
These investigations around selected groynes help inform future flood defence refurbishments to keep local coastal communities protected from the risk of flooding. Thank you for your patience and continued support.
