Chapel Hill and Kyme Eau

We are pleased to announce that the embankment reinstatement works at Chapel Hill and the Kyme Eau have now been completed and our contractors have left site.

The bank crest at Chapel Hill has been finished with a stone surface which has improved accessibility. This Environment Agency owned bank is now available for public use as a permissive footpath.

We would like to thank local residents and visitors for their patience and cooperation while these works were carried out.

Please remember to respect neighbouring residents and refrain from driving vehicles along the bank. This will help protect the newly completed surface and make sure the route remains safe and accessible for everyone.

Tattershall

Our works at Tattershall are progressing well, despite the hot and dry weather.

To allow the works to be carried out safely, the footpath remains closed. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation during this period.

Footpath closure at Tattershall.The project involves strengthening the embankment by adding clay to help protect it from erosion. Once this work is complete, the bank crest will be finished with a stone surface, improving the condition of the footpath and enhancing long term access along the path.

Works at the base of embankments (toe works)

Work at the base of the embankments is continuing along the Lower Witham. Using barges, we are delivering stone to sites where the banks have been eroded over time. The stone is then placed along the base, or "toe" of the bank to help protect it from further damage. Erosion can be caused by a variety of factors, including fast river flows, waves caused by boats, and animal grazing. These improvements will help provide long-term protection for years to come.
