Our latest statement on South West Water's plans on the Isles of Scilly

It is the right call for South West Water to include secondary treatment of wastewater as part of its upgraded proposal for the Isles of Scilly, in order to serve a community of this size while minimising environmental impact

We expect to receive the permit application and will publicly consult on it in due course.

We will not make further comment on the application until it has been fully determined.

South West Water have a deadline of 30 September 2027 to install and operate appropriate treatment. We acknowledge the logistical difficulty of this work and have already extended that deadline once. If South West Water does not meet this deadline, they will not have complied with our anti-pollution notice and be open to enforcement action.
