Abingdon Together: Resilient to Flooding.

The Thames Area Flood Resilience Team would like to help Abingdon set up a community flood action group.

Parts of Abingdon are at risk of flooding. The Environment Agency, Oxfordshire County Council and other partners cannot reduce the risks alone.

The Flood Resilience Team believe that your community can make a significant difference. You can play a role in reducing the risks of flooding, the impacts of the flooding and your recovery from flooding.

This engagement page is intended to help bring a community action group together and streamline it's development.

Help increase flood resilience in Abingdon.

There are numerous local, community and catchment actions that can take place to reduce flood risk. The flood resilience team can support with initial ideas, but these should be selected and prioritised by members of the community.

  1. The first stage will be to identify and invite stakeholders to join us. The primary stakeholders will be those directly impacted by flooding.
  2. The second stage will be to encourage stakeholders to share thoughts and ideas about how to improve flood risk and resilience. These ideas could include actions to be carried out at a local, community and catchment level.
  3. The third stage will be to review and prioritise these ideas, as a community.
  4. The fourth stage will be to create actions plans to help us achieve these.
  5. The fifth stage will be to enact these action plans.
