What area does this scheme cover?
The Yaverland scheme will cover around 1.2km of coastline—from Yaverland Beach car park in the north to the junction of Crescent Road and Culver Parade in the south, shown on the map below. 
This area was chosen as a priority following a 2018 study by the Isle of Wight Council, which identified where repairs were most urgently needed.
The Environment Agency is also working on other flood protection schemes nearby, including in Shanklin and Ventnor.
