The Environment Agency, Surrey County Council, the Regional Flood and Coastal Committee and the national government are all making considerable contributions to the scheme.

Reducing costs
In December we held a cost reduction workshop. This workshop included our internal project team and Surrey Wildlife Trust who will be delivering our 30-year BNG maintenance.
In this workshop we were able to identify a wide range of process’ and design elements that could be changed to reduce the overall project cost. We were also able to identify areas of the scheme that could be changed to provide benefits to our stakeholders as well as reduce project costs slightly.
Since identifying potential cost-saving opportunities, the project team has undertaken a detailed reviewed of each option element to assess its feasibility, value, and potential impacts. Where cost reductions have been demonstrated to deliver benefits without compromising project objectives, they are being incorporated into the scheme design.
