Resident meetings and monthly drop-in
Resident meetings
Throughout November and December, Environment Agency representatives visited Portreath residents whose properties back onto the stream to discuss the Flood Resilience Proposal.
Thank you to everyone who met with us and shared feedback—your local knowledge has been invaluable. A follow-up letter will confirm the details discussed and explain how further information will be provided as the proposal progresses.
To keep the community informed, we’ve launched this page on EngagementHQ. It includes information from the public event held on 9th September 2025 including a summary of comments received via the feedback forms, and responses to frequently asked questions.
Ongoing activities :
- Following the September public event, we are in the process of updating the design to reflect residents’ feedback.
- We met with the World Heritage Officer to ensure the proposal respects the historic landscape.
- We are meeting Cornwall Highways to discuss surface water run-off, understand their perspective, and understand how it will be accounted for in the scheme.
- An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Screening Opinion Request was submitted to Cornwall Council in October Ref: PA25/08179. Cornwall Council have concluded that the proposed works do not require an Environmental Impact Assessment.
- Preparations are underway for further ground investigations in early 2026, works will be undertaken using handheld tools to obtain core and trial pit samples. We anticipate minimal disruption, and any access requirements will be communicated in advance.
Starting on Tuesday, 13 January, and on the first Tuesday of each month, Environment Agency representatives will be available at the community hub. Please feel free to drop in and speak with the team.
Thank you for your contribution!
