January 2026 Update

On 22nd December the Environment Agency were invited to attend a site walk over with MP Perran Moon and representatives from the Parish Council, Love Portreath and PFRAG. The objective of the visit was to walk the channel to discuss the proposal and further understand any community concerns.

Thank you to everyone who met with us and shared feedback. Please be assured that the below focus areas raised by the community during the visit are being developed through the current design phase.

  • Surface Water run off
  • Residual Risk Assessment
  • Flood risk model report

Ongoing Activities:

  • Following the December site visit we are continuing work to address the concerns raised by the community.
  • In December we met with Cornwall Highways to discuss surface water run-off and understand their perspective. The project team are continuing to develop an approach to address surface water run-off within the current design.
  • Preparations are underway for further ground investigations to start from 19th January. Works will be undertaken using handheld tools to obtain core and trial pit samples. We anticipate minimal disruption, and any access requirements are being communicated in advance.
  • Through January we will seek pre-application support from Cornwall Council to ensure all considerations are addressed.
  • On Tuesday 13th January Environment Agency representatives will be available at the community hub, please feel free to drop in and speak with the team. If this date isn't suitable, we will be back at the community hub on the 3rd of February.
