How to get involved
View FAQs
How can I get involved in the development of the Nene Water Management Strategy?
The Strategy will be prepared in consultation with key stakeholders and the local community. Opportunities for stakeholders to learn more about the Strategy and how they can get involved will be made available through this project page, a regular stakeholder newsletter (issued by email and published on this page) and stakeholder meetings and events.
Will there be opportunities for landowners to engage as part of the Nene Water Management Strategy development?
Yes, we encourage landowners to contribute to development of the Strategy. We recognise that landowners have an intimate knowledge of their land and its unique characteristics. As such, landowners’ contributions will be important in identifying opportunities for the Strategy, including in relation to flood risk management and biodiversity enhancement.
We will contact respective landowners in due course to invite them to designated events. Landowners are also encouraged to attend the three community drop-in events that will be held in Autumn 2026 as part of the non-statutory consultation. The drop-in events will provide an opportunity to hear about the emerging Strategy and share your suggestions, concerns, and questions.
In the interim, should you have any questions, please send these to: Nene-strategy@environment-agency.gov.uk(External link).
Who should I contact if I have any questions or would like to get involved in development of the Nene Water Management Strategy?
Please send your enquiries and questions to: Nene-strategy@environment-agency.gov.uk(External link) and one of the Strategy team members will respond within 30 working days.
Will there be community events in the future?
Yes, as part of our non-statutory consultation anticipated to be held in Autumn 2026 we will hold three community drop-in events which will provide an opportunity for local residents, landowners, businesses and other stakeholders to hear about the emerging Nene Water Management Strategy and share their suggestions, concerns, and questions. The events will be held in accessible venues within proximity of the River Nene catchment. Further details on these events will be shared closer to the time.
