Project timeline.
Lower Witham Flood Resilience Project, 2021-2051. Working to provide a resilient catchment and reduce the harm caused by flooding where possible.
Lower Witham Phase One, 2021-2029. Sustain Capital works. Repairing and restoring the most critical structures, improving catchment resilience and continuing to provide flood protection for communities and businesses in the Lower Witham area. Includes Grand Sluice in Boston and embankments along the River Witham and some of its tributaries.
Lower Witham Strategy Update - Fens 2100+, 2021-2027. Developing a long-term plan to manage flood risk in the area. Includes baselining work to understand the flood risk and current asset condition more fully.
Sustainable Recovery Pilot - Fens 2100+, 2024 - 2027. Working with communities and partners, including farmers to look at whether it is possible to take a different approach to helping the Fiskerton and Barlings Eau area recover from future flooding and the impacts of climate change. This pilot is led by the Fens 2100+ team.
Phase Two - 2029 - 2034. Works on the ground to deliver Lower Witham Fens investment strategy, to change and adapt our approach to managing flood risk.
Phase 3, 2034 - 2051. Longer term strategy options.
