The Environment Agency has delivered a flood warning service for England for almost 30 years. The service provides over 1.6 million people with real-time flood warnings and alerts. We are making improvements to this service in 2025 and will introduce a new system to issue the warnings and a new online interface for people to register to receive them on GOV.UK.
What are we doing?
We are running an Expression of Interest to identify participants to help test the new service. You can be among the first to try it out from mid-February and provide us with your feedback, so we can improve it before our wider launch.
Please let us know if you would like to take part by filling in our Expression of Interest form (link in the grey bar on the right).
It’s simple to take part, after you have filled in the Expression of Interest we will send you a link to the private service where you can complete a test registration. We will then send you a small number of test warnings and alerts and ask you for feedback.
You can watch a video that explains our work in more detail by clicking on the thumbnail in the grey bar on the right.
Who do we want to test the service?
We are inviting the following to help test the service:
The public: if you’re signed up for flood warnings already or not.
Flood wardens and Community Action Groups.
Emergency responders and public sector partners.
Businesses and organisations of different scales that operate from locations within England.
