We would only carry out reactive maintenance and repairs as the structures gradually failed. There would be similar levels of plant and animal habitat along and in the river. The water levels would remain similar to current situation.
Similarly, at Wilderness Sluice and Zenith Sluice, gates will be replaced with fish passes on a reactive basis, as and when required. This approach will not cause any changes to the water level upstream of these structures.
This option has been included in the shortlist as it is a requirement of the appraisal guidance but this is not a viable option.
