Ground Investigation Surveys 27th July - 7th August

For awareness, BAM, the contractor that will be constructing the scheme early 2027, are carrying out some additional ground investigations along the route of the replacement or new flood defences. We have provided temporary authorisation under the Water Resources Act to carry out the further study works. This is being done to firm up detailed design for the Butteryhaugh FAS and to ensure deliverability of the project. Most surveys will be carried out behind the EA Salmon Hatchery and on Border Park Rugby Club land. There is also some trial pits being dug on Kielder Parish Council land adjacent to the Kielder Burn. All landowners have been sent the appropriate Notice of Entries and understand the work being undertaken. All sites of ground investigation will be made good / returned to the previous site condition.

If you have any questions about these works, please get in touch with Butteryhaughfas@environment-agency.gov.uk or phone Kevin Cunningham (EA PSO Advisor) on 07795126808.
