How we are reducing Hillingdon's flood risk
Victoria Road Flood Alleviation Scheme
Planned: Investigations are underway to identify potential options for flood alleviation schemes within the Victoria Road area.
Ruislip Gardens Flood Alleviation Scheme
Planned: Investigations are underway to identify potential options for flood alleviation schemes for the Ruislip Gardens estate.
Cannon Brook Flood Alleviation Scheme
Planned: Hillingdon Council are currently developing a design for a flood alleviation scheme to protect Wallington Close properties from flooding from Cannon Brook.
Joel Street Ditch Flood Resilience Scheme
Planned: Hillingdon Council are currently exploring funding options to deliver a flood resilience scheme within the Joel Street Ditch catchment.
Bessingby Park Phase 2
Planned: Hillingdon Council are exploring the creation of additional attenuation basins further north in the park to reduce the risk of surface water flooding to Whitby Road properties.
Spider Park Daylighting Project
Planned: Hillingdon Council plan on daylighting and re-naturalising of an existing Thames Water surface water sewer that currently runs through Bridgewater Road Fields (known as Spider Park). This will slow the flow of water entering the Yeading Brook, reducing the risk of flooding to residential properties downstream.
Optimising Gully Cleansing Regime
Planned: Hillingdon Council is undertaking a risk- and evidence-based review of the gully network to define risk profiles and prioritise maintenance in higher risk areas.
Pinn Meadows Natural Flood Management (NFM) Project
Planned: The scheme will involve the meandering of Elma's Ditch, the extension of an existing pond, and the reinstatement of an existing flood defence bund. These works will provide over 500m³ of temporary flood storage, reducing the risk of flooding to surrounding residential properties.
Park Wood Natural Flood Management (NFM) Project
Completed: The scheme will involve the installation of NFM measures, including leaky dams and ponds, to attenuate surface water flowing towards Broadwood Avenue properties. The project will also improve access within the woods by redirecting floodwaters away from the footpaths.

Bessingby Park Drainage Improvement Works
Completed: The scheme will involve deepening and widening the existing attenuation basins and using the excavated material to increase the height of the bund along the southern park boundary in order to reduce the risk of future surface water flooding to Whitby Road properties.

Bourne Primary School Drainage Clearance Works
Completed: Hillingdon Council arranged for the school's drainage network to be cleared to help ensure it operates effectively.
Cherry Close Drainage Clearance Works
Completed: Thames Water completed a full survey and clearance of the surface water drainage network.
Ruislip Gardens Drainage Improvement Works
Completed: Hillingdon Council installed additional gullies to capture more runoff, while Thames Water undertook a full survey and clearance of the surface water drainage network.

Beech Avenue Highway Reprofiling Works
Completed: Hillingdon Council completed reprofiling works to reduce the risk of surface water flooding to residential properties from the highway.
